While waiting for GoDaddy to perform an emergency restore of a customer website I am told by their VIP support person "Toni A" that she can not give me an exact ETA but their normal turn around time is 24-72 hours.

  • I can not believe that NBC with a once in a lifetime opportunity to postion themselves as leader in online media failed so miserably with the olympics live broadcasts.

My email to their VP of marketing resulted in mostly canned reply.... "You can get a guest pass for 4 hours"

I pointed out that they had obviously done no market research and did not care about massive potential recurring revenue.

1 - What is your target online viewer demographic (18-35)

2 - How many individuals in this market do you think have a cable account? (VERY SMALL NUMBER)

3 - How many individuals in this demographic do you think watch video online on their laptops. (VERY LARGE NUMBER)

4 - How many of those individuals that watch video wanted to watch the olympics (CLOSE to 100%)

5 - How many would have paid some fee around $10 to get an account to watch (over 75%)

6 - How many of those individuals noted above have the technical abilities to use a proxy server to watch video from another country (Over 50%)

7 - Oh and one more... Of those individuals how many did you attract as a future customer by gathering their contact information (0)

Who ever's job it was that was responsible for revenue from the live stream and responsible for customer building should be fired, tarred and feathered and never be allowed to run a marketing program for any other company ever again. Oh I'm sorry did I say that last part out loud...
